In this talk you'll hear about the new community development platform and how you can grow a community around your open source software running as a CentOS variant. == Abstract CentOS Linux has long been a favorite for open source developers who are looking for a stable-enough platform that just works. Derived from Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS Linux is the reliable open source community development platform that you can ignore in favor of focusing on making your code work. In this session learn about how tools, processes, and groups in the CentOS Project can help you accelerate your development and community growth. This includes getting your code in to CentOS so that it is available in the installer and to all users. One of the challenges of using CentOS for development used to be getting access to updated development environments on a slow-and-steady platform. To resolve this, the CentOS Project is expanding in scope to become more focused on additional community developments and domains. The new CentOS Project has an open governance that allows interested developers to build and maintain variants of CentOS, which can include new software and changes to any core component for that variant. Since the announcement of this special interest group (SIG)-driven process, many people have stepped forward to form SIGs around cloud (including OpenStack and OpenShift Origin), web hosting, desktops, and so forth. Presenter Karsten Wade is a long-time Fedora contributor and Red Hatter, author of The Open Source Way, and project lead/supervisor for the effort that resulted in this new relationship between the CentOS Project and Red Hat.
