== Proposed title The Community Management Drinking Game == Description (400 chars) Community managers never lack in reasons to drink, and it's always happy hour somewhere in a global community. Still, there has been something missing from the community manager's toolchest - a drinking game that gives a rule to drink each time the same (stupid) behavior is repeated. This session introduces the new game, with live audience QC testing and feedback on new rule ideas. == Topic Collaboration and community == Secondary topic Techniques Geek lifestyle == Type 40-min presentation == Abstract (3- 6 para, bullets welcome) And now for something completely different. This session introduces a new Community Management Drinking Game just in time to destroy the livers of community managers the world over. In open source software projects, community managers are the project organizers, organizational liaisons, spiritual leaders, face of the project, righter of wrongs, and veterans of many online and offline flamewars. A drinking game is a series of rules that trigger players to consume a drink, typically an alcoholic drink. The rules are usually triggered by external stimuli, such as when a character on a TV show says a catchphrase or acts in a particular way, or a meeting participant uses tired business jargon. The new Community Management Drinking Game is a set of rules triggered by the sort of shenanigans that come up in online mailing lists, forums, IRC channels, and in person events throughout open source communities. The game is growing to include tropes and patterns found in documentation and other content sources. The canonical rules are located at http://www.theopensourceway.org/wiki/Community_Management_Drinking_Game . After the game and initial rules are introduced, the audience will be invited to participate in a live test of the game. Additions to the rules will be solicited from audience members. == Tags games, drinking games, community management, community managers, leadership == Audience takeaway Laugh and cry with fellow sufferers, learn a fun game for social gatherings and beer-thirty, and gain a new tool in your mission to save your sanity. == Audience level Non-technical == Video URL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzCqzzd0l5k http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/4874355 http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/4874749 http://www.jupiterbroadcasting.com/65207/best-of-linuxcon-2014-las-327/ (57 minute mark) == Speaker(s): biography and hi-res (minimum 1400px wide) headshot
